Family Vacation 2007

Wednesday, July 18th - we left for our annual pilgriamage up north, also known as the Scheck 2007 tour. We've got the 2,500 mile trip down to a science now. The key is to leave on a Wednesday after work with the only rule to drive as far as we feel like it. This year, we drove from about 8:00pm to about 3:00am. We grabbed a hotel for a few hours of sleep and then hit the road the next day at 9:00.

Thursday, July 19th. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELIZABETH! My sweet baby girl turned 4 today! She's such a bright, smart, funny, delightful little girl. She has an imagination and spirit that would keep even the oldest grumpiest person young and hopeful. Her likes include ballet, reading, coloring, running, dancing, singing, telling stories, pretending, cooking, dresses, and puzzles. Her favorite television shows are Dragon Tales, Kipper, and Sagwa the Chinese Cat. Her spirit illuminates my soul. The world is a brighter place with her in it. She is so excited to be starting Pre-K in August she can hardly stand it. Her sister is her best friend and she loves her family.

Unfortunately, we spent the entire day on the road, but she didn't care. I had wrapped little presents for her that I gave through out the day. Things to keep her busy in the car. She was happy. We stopped at Friendly's Ice Cream for her birthday lunch and treat. All was well in the world of my little 4 year old. :)

We got to Grandma's house at about 10:00pm. When we walked in the house she had the lights dimmed and the birthday candles lit. We all quietly sang Happy Birthday to her. She made a wish and blew the candles out. And then we had cake before bed. What fun!
