Elizabeth -
She's as cute as ever. Growing up so fast. She LOVES her pre-K class. They studied a unit on dinosaurs the first two weeks of September. One afternoon, I picked the girls up from school and this is what happened next:
E: "Mommy, dinosaurs STINK!
Me: "They do?"
E: "Yes! Miss Natalie said dinosaurs are dead and they're going to be dead forever. They're STINK!"
Me: laughing, "Oh, you mean EXTINCT!"
While in her classroom I just happened to see the word "meteor" written up on the wall...
Later that night, at the dinner table she was a river of knowledge.
Once she began talking she barely stopped to take a breath. It went something like this:
E: "Mommy! This HUGE.... this HUGE.... this HUGE.... what's the word?.... (holding out her hands)....
Me: "Meteor?"
E: "YES! METEOR!" "Mommy, this HUGE meteor came crashing into the earth and caused all of the dirt to fly up and block the sun. The weather changed and it got very cold (as she shivers to show me how cold it got), and dark, and the dinosaurs couldn't find food, and they got cold, and died, and now they're dead and they're going to be dead forever. They're STINK!"
Seriously- the whole thing was just too cute for words. And I was just blown away that A, she even knew what the word "weather" was, and B, understood all of that enough to recite it all back to me. I was so proud. :)
And more than anything else, she is such a good big sister. She loves Caroline and takes such good care of her. She shares her toys with out prompting. They're best friends. They love to play together. They make each other laugh... and yes - they make each other cry too... but they both do so well together.
Caroline is a sweetheart. She is so smart. She doesn't talk much. She's really quite quiet. I know - you're all wondering - my daughter - quiet? Yes, she is. But she's soaking it all in. She is bright, and intelligent. Funny and caring. And a tad bit stubborn too. She knows what she likes and isn't afraid to express her displeasure of something. Even when it comes to clothes. Yes, that's right. I have a 4 year old who has never once pitched a fit about wearing something and I have a 20 month old who tried to rip her sister's shirt off of her the other day because SHE wanted to wear it. Ripping and screaming until I interfered. She already has opinions on what she will and will not wear to school on a given day. All kidding aside - I'm not quite sure how to deal with such tenacity. Guess I ought to look in the mirror, huh? Hmmm....
Ok - pictures quickly and then I have GOT to get to bed... Let's see... what have I got... Oh! I know - Elizabeth's very first day of school pictures ever!
